Olympus MAL-1 Macro Arm Light for PEN, O-MD and X-Series Cameras

Macro Arm Light MAL-1 is one of my favorite of the accessories produced by Olympusis.  It is such as unique product at a low cost, and totally lets you me creative with your macro photography work.

The MAL-1 Macro Arm Light consists of LED lights and flexible arms that make it extremely useful in close-up shooting. It can be connected to the accessory port of the camera. No battery is required for the light because it is powered from the accessory port. Each flexible arm has a length of 17 cm and its direction can be adjusted freely, making it possible to eliminate unnecessary shadows or add shadows to enhance the reality of the subject.

It provides an extra throw of two LED lights, in two intensities from high to low. Sitting in the hotshoe, the MAL-1 draws power from the camera's battery, although not too much to seriously deplete the reserves.

One advantage that it does have over a flash, though, is that the MAL-1 stays on constantly, so you can preview what the light will look like in your final photo, and it can even be used for video recording.
