Olympus New Pro Grade Zoom for MFT - M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm F2.8




Olympus has announced the new M.Zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO wide-angle zoom lens, with constant f/2.8 aperture, manual focus clutch mechanism, and dustproof, splashproof and freezeproof metal construction. The lens is a part of their new m.zuiko pro lens product line, an indication that the company is now betting big on the future of professional grade mirrorless digital camera.

It offers a 24-80mm equivalent focal range with minimum focus distance of 0.2m offering 0.3x magnification, and the lens has a L.Fn button that can be customized from the camera. The 14 element / 9 group design is packed full of exotic glass, and includes two aspheric elements.


The all-metal construction and weight of the lens gives the lens a feeling of quality, making it feel like a classic lens.  It also provides slightly longer reach than its rival leans, the Panasonic Lumix X Vario 12-35mm f/2.8 lens at a lower price point  It also comes with a lens hood with lock so that it doesn't accidentally come off.
