Panasonic Unveils Premium Grade MFT Lens - Leica Summilux 15mm f/1.7
Update: Pricing and Availability Announced
The Leica DG Summilux 15mm f/1.7 ASPH. is a single focal length lens that is designed to match the styling of the Lumix GM1.
In the quest of drawing more revenue into its bank accounts, Leica has begun making several lenses for Micro Four Thirds cameras. The DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4 ASPH and DG Macro-Elmarit 45mm f/2.8 ASPH Mega OIS are already available for customers. DG Summilux 15mm f/1.7 ASPH becomes the newest member of this elite class of high quality optics.
It has been a very busy day for the Japanese manufacturer. The company has introduced the GM1, the smallest MFT system ever, along with the 12-32mm f/3.5-5.6 pancake zoom lens. The trifecta has been completed by the new Leica 15mm f/1.7 optic.
The new Leica DG Summilux 15mm f/1.7 ASPH lens provides excellent image quality meeting the German company’s standards.
Its exterior has been designed to be sophisticated, just like its internal hardware. However, the looks have also been modified to better suit the new Lumix GM1 shooter.
It is not a pancake lens, instead qualifying for the prime category. If it were to take into consideration the crop factor equivalent, then the optic would provide a 35mm equivalent of 30mm, which is more than suitable for street, landscape, and other photography types.
Panasonic has announced the release date and the price of the Leica DG Summilux 15mm f/1.7 ASPH.
