Fujifilm FinePix S1 May Claim "King of Superzoom" Title

Before we get to the details of this upcoming camera by Fujifilm.  Which features set it apart from its competitions?  It's "Weather-proof" So you don't have to worry about taking this high-tech marvel to a family vacation on the beach or taking it out on rainy days.

Looking at the spec sheet, this camera got almost everything else to match or exceed the current market leaders in the "Superzoom" category.  It packs 50x (24-1,200mm) f/2.8-5.6 lens with 16-megapixel sensor.

The camera feature includes pretty much everything you'd expect from modern prosumer grade camera; WiFi image sharing, 10fps burst mode, 1080p video, 920,000-pixel viewfinder and a 3-inch tilting LCD.

The company is also scheduled to unveil a whole line of FinePix models at 2014 CES along with FinePix S1 flagship model.

Interestingly, the rest of FinePix models all share the 16-megapixel resolution, but sacrifice the S1's do-it-all design in the name of price.

The S9200 and WiFi-equipped S9400W both share the 50x lens and 10fps burst mode, but lose the weather-hardened design and step down to a 200,000-pixel viewfinder.

The entry S8600 moves to "just" a 36x (25-900mm) lens, 720p video and AA battery power.

The price starts at $230 for the S8600 and XP70; the S9200 costs $330, while the S9400W is slightly costlier at $350.

The FinePix S1 is expected to carry a price tag of $500 with expected availability of March 2014.  The only thing that remains to be seen is the actual image quality.  Fujifilm has always been known with great optical and image quality with their cameras, so we don't expect to be surprised in that department.

Stay tuned for more updates.
