Olympus Debuts Superzoom with Unique High Tech Features
Olympus has been releasing some of the best camera in its niche segment in the last few years such as OM-D E-M5, OM-D EM1, OM-D ME10 and Stylus1. Here comes another awesome camera from Olympus named, ST-100.
It's a superzoom camera with a whopping 50x optical zoom lens and "eagle-eye" dot-sight viewfinder similar to the system used on sniper rifles. It projects a target onto a semi-transparent mirror below the flash, helping you to locate your target without zooming out.
I can already imagine how useful this would be on a 50x zoom lens. It'll especially be helpful to follow a moving object with so much ease.
Other than this unique features, SP-100 is packed with technology to match other leaders in Superzoom travel camera category. It uses 1/2.3-inch 16-megapixel CMOS sensor with a TruePic VII processor, 7 fps burst shooting and a 24-1,200 f/2.9-6.5 lens, and 3-inch LCD.
The EVF uses 920k-dot screen, and it can record video at 1080/60p full HD mode. You can compare this with Fuji X-S1 and the leading superzoom cameras currently available in the market.
It is expected to be priced around $400 and arrive at the store shelves sometime in March 2014.
