Olympus Stylus SH-1 24X Has the High Tech 5-Axis Stablization
Olympus has been known for its best in-camera stabilization system that started off as 3-axis then upgraded to 5-axis system originally found in OM-D EM-5. The huge success of that camera is partly owed to the 5-axis stabilization system loved by its owners and reviewers.
Olympus is surely using different tactic when it comes to positioning various camera models, and the company is not holding back this awesome technology from a cheaper fixed lens camera such as newly introduced Olympus Stylus SH-1.
Stylus SH-1 from Olympus now gets to claim the title “world’s first compact with mechanical 5-axis stabilization." It's basically the same image stabilization system found in more advanced Olympus cameras. It will gives the slim SH-1 much improved steadiness, especially when the lens is zoomed out all the way.
IS system is not the only tech this little camera has inherited from OM-D series. The camera featuresTruePic VII processor which is the same version found i OM-D, and an excellent 16-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor.
When combined with f/3-6.9, 25-600mm 24x optical zoom lens, it makes Sylus SH-1 one of the best travel zoom camera in the market.
There is also a 3-inch 460k-dot LCD, 1080/60p video mode, 11 frames per seconds burst mode, and ISO range of 125-6,400. The updated Advanced Movie Mode is pretty amazing with a fast 240 fps (or 120 fps in 720p) High-Speed Movie, which allows users to capture subjects that move at split-second speeds, and 60-frames-per-second HD recording for smoother images of moving subjects.
You can even capture full-res still photos while recording Full HD video. It pretty much match up or outperform EP-5 in terms of technology and performance minus interchangeable lens system.
Another surprising news is its low price. The Olympus STYLUS SH-1 will be available in May at an estimated street price of $399.99 (available in Black, White and Silver).
