OM to M43 Adapter from Metabones Speed Booster
Micro Four Thirds users will soon be able to use a large selection of great OM lenses mounted via an adapter designed by Metabones.
It has been a long wait since the production was announced in the beginning of 2013 which is more than a year ago. Similar products have already hit the market for Sony NEX and Fujifilm X camera systems. There currently adapters you can buy allowing you to mount Olympus OM lenses on Micro Four Thirds body.
However, Speed Booster is not an ordinary adapter as it actually increase the performance of the lens. It is only possible since the glass on the OM lens has larger surface area that what's needed by MFT body; 1.4 times larger to be exact.
In a nutshell, you will get a boost in terms of aperture, image sharpness, and field of view. The maximum aperture of the equipped lens increases by one full-stop. Since this adapter also boosts the Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) of the lens, the overall performance such as field of view, depth of field and focal length of the lens is increased.
The adapter was available for pre-order at Metabones website according to some sources, but it is currently shown as "not available" with email notification service.
