No 4K Video for Olympus Upcoming OM-D EM-5 Mk II?

This is very sad news for Olympus fans or future buyer if it turns out to be true.  Olympus OM-D EM-5 Mk II will not support 4K video.  I know some of you don't care much about the video recording capability in compact DSLR.

If I'm carrying a bag of camera gears to a trip or event, I want to be able to record a video at a highest possible quality and resolution, at least better than my smartphone.  Well, if Olympus cameras can shoot better videos than Panasonic's MFT cameras then Olympus may end up claiming majority of the niche market.

We also heard a few days ago that EM-5 Mk II will not be using update version of sensor used in the original EM-5.  Hopefully, none of these rumors are true, but this is what's been out about this highly anticipated camera so far.

  • 16.1MP Live MOS Sensor (same as of E-M5)
  • Captures composite shot of 40MP resolution using sensor shift technology
  • 5-Axis Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization
  • Improved EVF
  • FAST Auto Focus System (No Hybrid AF – Traditional Contrast Based System)
  • 3.0″ Display unit OLED Monitor
  • More artistic filters
  • Dustproof and Splash-Proof Construction
