Updated Firmware History for Olympus and Panasonic Gear
Just the other day I was trying to go through all my Micro Four Thirds cameras and lenses and update firmware to the latest version. I only have Olympus camera bodies and mixed bag of Olympus and Panasonic lenses.
Searching on the Internet for official or definitive resource on how to update the firmware wasn't an easy task because so many web pages out there are mostly outdated. Even Olympus U.S. official website had incorrect information as to what is the latest firmware on one of the lens.
Then magically, I came across these two website; one for Olympus and one for Panasonic. They are both hosted from Japan but written in English - lucky for those of us who don't speak Japanese.
Both of those website contains most up to date information on firmware versions and history for every single camera and lenses produced by the companies (Micro Four Thirds gear only).
Additionally, you can find out how you can mix and match Olympus body and Panasonic Lens or vise versa when updating firmware for the lenses.
After going through the information on the websites, I have successfully update firmware for all my gear. In fact, I was really surprised to see that some of my aging Olympus lenses received and a fresh new firmware in November 2015.
For instance, Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 45mm lens is updated with firmware V1.2 which states, "Stability of lens aperture when shooting videos has been improved." Sure, I'll take that.
Lastly, you can see the entire version history for each product with details when you click on the link under description column. I do have to tell you that Olympus site definitely has much more information than Panasonic.
Ok, here are the link to both websites:
Olympus - Joint update service for OLYMPUS E-SYSTEM
Panasonic - Joint update service for Panasonic
